‘Fortnite’ Miraculously Brings Back Patch Notes For v11.20

Fortnite

Epic

It took almost seven weeks, but after enough complaining from fans about Epic’s season-long silence, Fortnite finally has something resembling official patch notes once again, arriving for today’s v11.20 update.

One thing Epic is not doing is talking about specific numbers for some reason, but rather general descriptions of changes. There’s a decent amount here, so we’ll go through each of the major points.

Daily Challenges

Daily challenges have been re-added back into Fortnite, which were previously replaced by punch cards. Punch cards still exist, but now you can have three daily challenges running at a time for more XP, and you can sub out one per day if you get one you really don’t want to do.

Locker Search

Players have been asking for this for a long time, but now it’s much easier to sort through your locker items as you can search by season, including season 9, season X, or chapter 2 season 1. A bit convoluted there, but helpful overall.

Tac Shotgun

No numbers given here but now the Tac Shotgun has a headshot multiplier “in line” with the Pump Shotgun, putting them on more equal footing.

Slurp Tankers

Have been buffed to give out more effective health, which is shields + health.

Bandage Bazooka

Has been re-activated after it was suffering from syncing issues previously.

The Rest

DirectX 12 support, mobile hitching, skin fixes, wrap fixes, low res building fixes on console. A few others.

Even if this isn’t like a bunch of massive changes to the game, it’s nice to have Epic talking again, and I have no idea why they ever thought it was a good idea to just remain completely silent about all patch changes. But there may be other stealth changes made to the game that aren’t mentioned here, as dataminers are trying to dig those out.

Epic did not talk about the fact that Chapter 2, season 1 has been extended until early February in these patch notes, as that was brought up in a separate, very short blog post that players are trying to puzzle out, given that it’s a rather odd change and a big deal to kind of gloss over, as it’s practically doubling the length of the season for reasons that remain unclear. That means no new battle pass and probably no significant map changes for a long, long while. Stay tuned for more info on that.
